A lot of changes are taking place at Twycross Zoo, and our chimp groups are one of them!

Chimpanzees like to live in large family groups. In the wild troop sizes can be very large, breaking off into smaller groups of 8 – 15 chimps to feed and forage. To allow our chimps to better express their natural behavious we have moved them into bigger groups.

Moving and settling 25 chimps into new homes is no easy task. It is a long process and includes a lot of work by our curators, keepers, veterinary and maintenance teams.

Following the Twycross Chimps Blog will give you weekly updates on our chimp moves and let you know how our troop are getting on!
